This beautiful fall luminary started with a simple large left over spaghetti Sauce jar! You can buy glass blocks made for this type of craft at any craft supply store as well, but that will run $10.00 – $12.00, I like free much better!
First you will want to gather your supplies. Here is what I used.
- Large spaghetti jar, pickle jar or any other large jar you have.
- Battery Operated LED Light Strand
- Frosted glass spray paint, any brand will work
- Cream colored spray paint
- Dark orange acrylic paint
- Light orange acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- 1-2 different leaves, any shape leaf will work
- Wood Leaf Cutout, 39 cents at Michael’s
- Twine or Raffia
- Raffia
- Wide Ribbon, 2 Colors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Remove your lid from your jar and set aside. Spray your glass jar evenly with the frosted spray paint. I used Rustoleum Brand. Once dry, place leaf on jar and spray around the leaf edges with the cream spray paint, repeat this until you are all the way around the jar. Set jar aside to dry.
Spray the jar lid and your wood leaf cutout with your cream colored spray. Once dry, dry brush both with your light orange, then your dark orange acrylic paint.
You can now insert you LED lights into your jar with raffia.
Hot glue your battery box of your light strand to the inside of your jar lid. Screw your lid onto your jar.
Wrap a long piece of twine or raffia around the lid of your jar and tie your wood leaf cutout to it. Use your ribbon to make a bow for the top of your jar. Glue your bow on your jar lid and you are Done!
