Farmhouse Carrot Hanger – Enormousness cuteness on a Dollar Tree budget!!

By February 22, 20208 Comments

I can’t get over how such a simple little craft can bring such enormous cuteness! Everything for this Farmhouse Carrot hanger can be found at Dollar Tree except the orange yarn, which I got at Michael’s!

Here’s what you will need for this craft!

  • Wood pallet, Dollar Tree
  • Wood Carrot, Dollar Tree
  • White acrylic paint
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Green yarn, Dollar Tree
  • Orange yarn, Michael’s
  • Raffia, Dollar Tree
  • Orange wood beads, Dollar Tree
  • Twine, Dollar Tree
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Sanding block or sand paper

The first thing you will do is paint your wood pallet with white paint. Make sure to get all your edges. No worries about painting it perfect since we’re going to distress it after it dries.

Once your paint on your pallet is dry you will distress it with a sanding block or sand paper. You can distress it as much or as little as you like or skip this step all together and keep is a solid paint if you prefer.

Next you will paint just the top stem ends of your carrot green. This is just so none of the wood color shows through your green yarn.

Once your green paint is dry you will wrap your green yarn around three fingers 10 – 12 times.

Put a generous amount of hot glue over top of one half of your green paint on the top of your carrot.

Now place your loops of green yarn on top of the hot glue and press down. I use a silicone finger protector for this. They sell these at Dollar Tree as well.

Repeat these steps for the other side of your carrot top.

Next you will flip your carrot over and glue the end of your orange yarn to the tip of your carrot.

I will say, I love this yarn from Michael’s for this craft. I gives a great texture to your carrot!

Now flip your carrot over, wrap your yarn around the tip using hot glue to secure it into place. Let your glue set before you move on.

Continue to wrap your carrot hot gluing it into place along the way.

When you get towards the top you will overlap the bottom of your green loops.

Once you carrot is completely wrapped you will glue the end in the back and cut your yarn.

You will make a small bow with raffia and glue it to the front of your carrot.

Now grab a piece of twine about 12 inches long. String some of the orange wood beads from the multi color pack they sell at Dollar Tree. You can use natural color wood beads too if you prefer. Tie a knot at each end of your beads to hold them in place.

You will next hot glue your bead hanger to the back of your wood pallet.

Last you will put a bead of hot glue around the back of your carrot.

Place your carrot on the front center of your pallet and hold it into place until your hot glue sets.
