Here’s what you will need for this craft.
- Long Cinnamon sticks from Dollar Tree
- Fabric or ribbon
- Twine or yarn
- Raffia from Dollar Tree
- Mini pine cones from Dollar Tree or your backyard
- Wood beads, I got mine from Hobby Lobby
- Scissors
- Pinking sheers (optional)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
When I say this is simple, I really mean it! You cut a strip of material about 10 inches long and about 3/4 inch wide. I used my pinking sheers to give it a fun finished edge. You can also use ribbon of your choice for this. I used a buffalo check fabric from Hobby Lobby.
You will cut a couple pieces of twine and raffia about 10 inches. I used both red and brown twine and a natural raffia. The Red twine was from Michael’s and the brown twine and raffia were from Dollar Tree.
Now tie your fabric or ribbon onto your cinnamon stick about 1/3 of the way from the top. Next tie your raffia, then your twine pieces. You don’t want to tie them all at once because it will get very bulky if you do.
If you like the look of the beads hanging in the front, you can cut a long piece of twine about 24 inches. Slide a bead on each end and double knot the ends of your twine to keep your beads from slipping off.
Now fold your twine in half, leaving one bead lower then the other. Tie a knot about 2 inches up.
Cut the end where you folded your twine.
Tie it around your cinnamon stick with the beads hanging in the front. leave your long ends in the back to attach to a package or a gift bag.
Now trim all your string ends to a length you like.
You can now add your pine cones and a red wooden bead just above your knots by hot gluing them. You may want to add a couple dabs of glue to secure your strings and ribbon as well.
If you want to use these as an ornament you can cut another piece of twine about 12 inches long. Fold it in half, slide a couple wood beads onto your twine from your folded side. Slide your beads farther down then you will want them. Tie a knot about 3 inches from your folded end. Slide your beads up to the knot. Double tie a knot at the bottom of your beads. Trim your twine ends so that you only have about 1 1/2 inches left at the bottom.
Put a small amount of hot glue into your top end of your cinnamon stick and insert your string ends into the end, holding until your glue cools and sets.
You now have a beautiful ornament that can double as a gift embellishment. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. You can watch the full video tutorial by clicking here. If you like this craft and want to become a part of my social media family click here to follow me on Facebook.
